 Isn't it interesting to see how food is at the center of the readings ? Indeed the tempter comes when Jesus is eventually hungry and Eve is tempted by the goodness and fairness of the tree and its fruit and not by the serpent's words. He is a subtle liar and knows how to prey on our weaknesses, when we hunger for fame or wealth, love or just some much needed rest. If the naive Eve fails to see the trap, Jesus is the Son of God and knows quite well how to react to the devil's attempts at making him fall. Like Eve, our hungers, whatever thery are, make us easy prey to the devil, but Jesus said he was the bread of life and with him we will never be hungry again.
